This thread applies to ALL the clubs on WWS which are offering 2010 International Year-End Awards: ASApHC, ASQHR, ASPR, ASWCHA, and ASSSHR.
All my examples below will use the ASQHR.
QUALIFYING SHOWS
The clubs will each offer 4 qualifying shows towards the end of the year.
Entries are unlimited per owner.
Only the Top Three from each class will be qualified to compete in the Year-End Shows.
Top Three are awarded regular club points/earnings.
Only the Top Three are shown in the results, the remaining entries are considered DNP.
This makes for very strict and difficult competition, as many of our clubs have over 100 entries in some classes.
If your horse did not make the Top Three in Show #1, simply enter him again into Show #2, and so on.
If he doesn't qualify by show #4, he didn't make it. He has 4 chances to qualify.
When he qualifies, stop entering him in the qualifiers, because he can't be eligible twice.
Example:
By the time we are finished with the 4 qualfying shows, we should have 12 horses competing in ASQHR Reining Futurity, 12 in ASQHR Reining Junior, 12 in ASQHR Reining Advanced, 12 in ASQHR Reining Senior, and 12 in ASQHR Reining Open.
This means that 60 horses will be competing in the ASQHR Reining Division in the Year-End Event.
(if your horse qualifies in Show #1, don't enter him in Show 2,3,4 because it would be redundant)
YEAR-END EVENTS
The International Year-End Events are held AFTER all 4 qualifiers have been run.
Only those horses that placed in the Top Three in ANY of the 4 Qualifying shows are eligible to enter the Year-End Events (the 60 per division I was just talking about).
Top Tens in the International Year-End Events are awarded DOUBLE POINTS.
The International Year-End Events are THE most prestigious shows available all year long.
YEAR-END AWARDS / TITLES
Horses are awarded and titled based off the Year-End show results.
Winners are selected by randomizer from those that placed FIRST in the Top Ten in the Year-End shows.
Three major titles are awarded: Halter HOTY, Western HOTY, and English HOTY.
Titles are also awarded per division (not per class): Reining, Cutting, WCH, Hunter, Jumper, Dressage, etc
EX:
We have Futurity, Junior, Advanced, Senior, and Open for almost all classes, such as Cutting or Barrel Racing.
Barrel Racing Futurity, Junior, Advanced, Senior, and Open are all competing for ONE title for the Barrel Racing division.
All Dressage classes are considered one Dressage Division.
All jumping classes are considered one Dressage Division.
All Hunter classes, and so on.
Example:
If we have 12 horses competing in ASQHR Reining Futurity, 12 in ASQHR Reining Junior, 12 in ASQHR Reining Advanced, 12 in ASQHR Reining Senior, and 12 in ASQHR Reining Open, this means we have 60 horses which are eligible to win the title ASQHR Reining Horse of the Year.
Please see the post below to learn how we finalize the winners.
All title winners are awarded a banner for their page, club points, money, and will be listed for all time on the ASQHR Year-End Awards thread.
