Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I play one or two different sim horse games and still be a participant here on WWS?
YES! Please do! WWS wants any/all barns to showcase their horses here, enter them in our shows, and host shows for other players.
But, alot of sim horse games have a common rule that says: "only show results from our game will count in our game".
That's perfectly fine. Make sure you keep WWS records separate from your original game, then. You may wish to create two different barns, one for use in your home sim game, and one for use with WWS records, which may include records from ALOT of different sim games. We want to see horses with records from LOTS of different games and venues. We do NOT have rules against outside records. All we ask is that the records be REAL, they must be EARNED from somewhere ... otherwise, where is the fun, if everyone is simply cheating all the time? We play using an honor-system, certainly.
Do I HAVE to be playing a sim horse game in order to join the WWS?
Nope.
What should I do, in order to be a member of the WWS?
You need to love sim horses, you should build yourself a sim barn of some kind, and you should participate in the activities on the forum (hosting a show, entering shows, breeding, chatting in the topics, etc.). This goes for most all-sim boards.
May I advertise sim horse games here?
Yep. A whole world of opportunity will open to our board as well as the sim horse game you are playing if you advertise it here on the WWS. Remember that only active participants may advertise.
So, what exactly does the WWS offer its members?
The WWS offers a connection with other sim-loving players out there, a home base for advertising and selling and breeding and showing of sim horses, and an interactive community of sim horse players, specifically, stock breeds. We encourage all our members to become involved with the sales boards, the breeding aspect of sim horses, and the excitement of developing your very own sim barn, lineages, and show string. Host some shows, and enter your champions in the shows available. Sell or trade a horse, and check out what other members/players are offering. It is a fun and relaxing simulated world, and anyone is welcome to join us!
Can anyone post a horse for sale?
Yes, any registered member may post horses for sale/trade. Please remember that if you list a bred horse for sale, you should also include the sire & dam pedigrees, the games they are actively competing in, and links to their pages. If you have free-use photos, include those, too. If you have permission to use the photos, you will need to give the real-life photographer's information to the new owner so they may also request permission, after the sale is final. The more info you offer about the horse you are selling, the better chance someone will like the horse and wish to buy it or offer another in trade.
Also, horses sold/traded on WWS don't HAVE to be stock breeds.
How about sim money? How does sim money fit into the WWS?
The WWS works with sim money similar to the sim horse games out there (as in, it's all fake money), BUT we are not interested in your financial records, and we don't expect you to share them with us. Sometimes purchases require a cheque be written to make the sale final, usually not. All-sim is alot more laid-back than regulated games about sim money.
What should my username be, on the WWS forum?
Your username can be a human name (Becky Smith) or a barn name (Smith Cliff Stables), or a combo of both (BeckySmith_SmithCliffStables). Those are the acceptable variations. We do NOT allow names with numbers or symbols, or nonsense names that make players seem like a silly five-year-old. Pegasus2009 is NOT an acceptable name. ~AppaloosaLuv~ is NOT acceptable. Be reasonable. WE want to refer to a NAME, not a place, thing, breed, fantasy creature, number, or otherwise.
I signed up but it says I am not "validated" yet. What does this mean?
It means you need to check your email and use the "validation key" to validate your account. We double-check the name you picked, to ensure it is not already being used by another member, or is not too similar to another member's name/barn. We use email validation to try and keep bots from joining our forum and posting spam messages which disrupt our sim world. WE want REAL people with a REAL love of the simulated world.
Who can make a barn website? What makes my barn official?
Anyone can make a barn website. How "official" your barn is really depends on the effort you put into the website, to make it seem like a real barn. Give us information about where your barn is located in the world, what the terrain looks like there, what the weather is like, what major show circuits or breed clubs you are closest to, and tell us what your barn specializes in, if anything (breeds, disciplines, etc). Tell us about your resident champions, and of course, make pages for each of your sim horses with info about them. It's all about the horses. Remember to write a disclaimer somewhere on your website or message board stating 'nothing here is real, this all fake for a sim horse forum" so that other people won't be confused if they stumble upon it while browsing the web.
How does a person get "banned" from the WWS?
People get banned if they make inappropriate posts, or harrass other members, or break too many rules. We don't have alot of rules here, but they ARE expected to be followed.
Who should I contact if I have further questions?
You can see the "Members" by clicking the link at the very top of the forum, and there, you will find the Administrators and Moderators by clicking on "View Staff Members". You can contact any of those authority figures if you have questions, OR you can post your questions under the "Help & Support" board.
